Gifts for Kids: The Best Little Gifts to Pop in a Box

Buying gifts for kids should be easy. They love everything, right? Then you watch a child unwrap the big present they've wanted for months, play with it for ten minutes and spend the rest of the afternoon in the cardboard box it came in.

Here's what we've learned from years of filling boxes: what kids love most is the excitement. The shaking, the guessing, the tearing open. So why give them that feeling once when you could give it to them every morning for a week?

That's exactly what we do. Seven doors, seven mornings, seven little surprises. Below are the gifts we love popping behind those doors, and why they work so well.

Start their seven mornings

Why Small Gifts for Kids Win Every Time

Small gifts for kids have one brilliant thing going for them: there's always another one coming. A torch on Monday, a puzzle on Tuesday, sweets on Wednesday. By Thursday they're up before you, asking which door it is today.

The best little gifts are the ones that get played with, carried around in a pocket or shown to every single person who comes to the house.

Cool Gifts for Kids Who Love a Bit of Magic

Some gifts just make a child's eyes go wide. Our Space Age projector torch throws planets and stars across the bedroom ceiling, which makes bedtime a lot more fun (and a little bit longer). The mini USB boogie light turns any room into a disco in seconds.

These are the cool gifts for kids that get pulled out at sleepovers and shown off to friends. Proper "look what I got" gifts.

Craft Gifts for Kids Who Like Making Things

If you've got a little one who's always drawing, sticking or making something, craft gifts for kids are a lovely pick. They keep busy hands happy long after the box is finished.

We love the Over The Rainbow cross stitch kit for kids aged 8 and up. It's colourful, easy to follow and they get something to hang on the wall at the end. For younger ones, a tube of colouring pencils (Colourful Creatures or Ladybird) or a set of unicorn erasers goes down a treat.

Games and Puzzles the Whole Family Can Play

Some of the best gifts for kids are the ones you end up playing together. Kids Vs Adults Trivia pits the grown-ups against the children, and the children usually win. Best Guess is a family ranking game that gets everyone talking (and debating, in the nicest way). The Twist-A-Zoo wooden puzzle twists into different animals, and grown-ups find it just as hard to put down.

Something Soft to Keep Forever

Every week of surprises needs one gift they'll still have years from now. A Teeny Ty plush is small enough to go everywhere and cute enough to become the new favourite. Expect it to come on every car journey from now on.

Sweet Treats to Pop Behind the Doors

A few treats always go down well. Nerds, Birthday Cake gourmet popcorn and a Gnaw hot chocolate spoon are all crowd pleasers. For older kids who like a dare, Bean Boozled jelly beans are brilliant: some taste like strawberry and some taste like... well, you'll find out.

Gifts for Girls, Gifts for Boys, Gifts for Them

Whether you're searching for gifts for girls or gifts for boys, we'd always say start with the child. Are they into space? Making things? Beating their dad at a quiz? Pick the gifts that fit who they are and they'll love every door.

Birthday Gifts for Kids That Last All Week

A birthday is the perfect excuse to stretch the excitement out. Instead of one day of presents, birthday gifts for kids from us arrive as a week of countdown, with door seven opening on the big day itself. Their birthday becomes a birthday week, and every child deserves one of those.

Christmas Gifts for Kids and Stocking Fillers

Every one of these little gifts also works brilliantly as a stocking filler for kids. And if you want to do something different this Christmas, a week of surprises in the run up to the big day builds the excitement in the best possible way. Think of it as a mini advent calendar for kids, with a proper gift behind every door.

How We Pop It All in a Box

You can go with one of our ready-made boxes, starting from £46, or customise it to your heart's content. Swap in gifts that are perfectly them, upgrade to something extra special and choose the box that suits the occasion.

Then we take care of the rest:

• Seven doors, numbered one to seven, with one gift behind each
• An extra special gift behind door seven, the biggest surprise of the week
• A handwritten letter, sealed with wax, with your message inside

It's one of the most personalised gifts for kids you can send, because you choose the surprises and we write your words by hand.

When to Order Gifts for Kids

Whenever suits you. You can schedule delivery for any date up to 12 months ahead, so you can sort birthdays early and relax until the box lands. Need it sooner? Select next-day delivery at checkout for £10 (order before 2pm).

What age are these gifts for kids best for? Most of the gifts above suit ages 5 and up. The cross stitch kit is best for 8+, and we'd always check the age guidance on each product before you pick.

Can I send a box straight to a child? Yes. Lots of our customers send boxes to grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren who live miles away. It's a lovely way to be part of their week from wherever you are. (Long-distance gifting ideas)
