Create Your Own vs Ready-Made Boxes — Which Should You Pick?

Right, so you've decided on a SevenYays box. Brilliant choice. But now you're staring at two options: Create Your Own or Ready-Made. And you're thinking... which one?

Let's sort this out.

The Quick Answer

Create Your Own if you want to handpick every single item and build something completely tailored to them.

Ready-Made if you want us to do the thinking for you with gorgeous pre-curated themes that just work.

Both are absolutely lovely. Both make brilliant gifts. The difference is how much input you want.

Create Your Own: The Full Control Option

This is for the people who know exactly what they want. Or who love the process of choosing.

You pick all seven items yourself. Six gifts for Doors 1-6, then one Special Gifts for Door 7. Every single thing is your choice, selected from our full range of hundreds of options.

Perfect for when:

• You know their tastes inside out
• They have specific interests or preferences
• You want to include inside jokes or meaningful items
• You're building a really personal story across the seven days
• You enjoy the creative process of curating

How it works: Browse through our gift ranges. Add six items for the build-up, then choose that perfect Special Gift for the finale. Pick your box design from over 100 options. Done.

The whole box costs the price of your seven gifts plus £9.95 for the gorgeous, sustainably produced box and packaging.

The advantage? Complete personalisation. Every item chosen specifically for them.

The catch? It takes a bit more time and thought. But honestly? That's part of the fun.

Ready-Made: The Already-Gorgeous Option

This is for when you want something absolutely spot-on without spending ages choosing every item.

We've done the work. We've curated complete boxes around specific themes, making sure every item works beautifully together. The six gifts build towards a proper Special Gift, all coordinated, all lovely.

Perfect for when:

• You're short on time but still want something thoughtful
• They fit perfectly into one of our themes
• You trust us to nail it (we will)
• You want the surprise element for yourself too
• You're not sure exactly what to pick but know the vibe

The advantage? Quick, easy, guaranteed to work. We've tested these combinations. They're fab.

The catch? Less personalisation. But honestly? Our themes are so well thought out, they feel personal anyway.

The Decision Tree

Let's make this simple.

Choose Create Your Own if:

• "I know exactly what they'd love" - YES
• "I want to include specific items" - YES
• "I enjoy choosing gifts" - YES
• "They have particular tastes" - YES
• "I want complete control" - YES

Choose Ready-Made if:

• "I'm short on time" - YES
• "They love [specific theme we offer]" - YES
• "I trust you to nail it" - YES
• "Choosing stresses me out" - YES
• "I want something guaranteed gorgeous" - YES

Can't Decide? Here's Another Way to Think About It

Create Your Own is like cooking from scratch. You choose every ingredient, control every flavour, and end up with something uniquely yours.

Ready-Made is like ordering from a brilliant chef who knows exactly what works. You still get something delicious, you just didn't have to think about the recipe.

Both end up with a gorgeous meal. One just requires more of your input.

What About Mixing and Matching?

Smart question. And yes, sort of.

With Create Your Own, you can absolutely mix items from different ranges. Want three things from For Her, two from For Him, and a couple of Little Yays? Go for it. Build something completely unique that crosses categories.

Ready-Made boxes are set collections, but you can always add a personal note or choose from our 100+ box designs to make it feel more tailored.

Price-Wise

Create Your Own boxes start from under £35 (depending on which items you choose, plus £9.95 for the box).

Ready-Made boxes have set prices that include everything.

Both offer fantastic value for a whole week of joy. It's more about your time and preference than your budget.

The Honest Truth

We've put just as much love into both options. The Ready-Made boxes aren't "lesser" versions – they're carefully curated collections we're dead proud of. The Create Your Own option isn't "better" – it's just more customisable.

Some people love the control of building their own. Some people love the ease of choosing a theme and knowing it'll be perfect. Neither is wrong.

Still Stuck?

Ask yourself this: if you were buying them a birthday present in a shop, would you enjoy browsing for ages finding the perfect thing? Or would you rather grab something you know is brilliant and be done?

If you're a browser, go Create Your Own.

If you're a "grab the perfect thing and go" person, choose Ready-Made.

Our Recommendation?

If this is your first SevenYays box, maybe try Ready-Made. See how we put things together, get a feel for our curation style. Then next time, you might fancy trying Create Your Own.

Or do it the other way round. Honestly, you can't go wrong.

Both options create seven days of joy. Both show someone they're special. Both arrive in our gorgeous, sustainable packaging with your personal message.

The only real question is: how involved do you want to be in the choosing?
